30 Years of HIV
Tarzana Treatment Centers has provided HIV Services for the community since the 1980s. At one time we were the only resource for people who were scared and felt there was no hope. Our goal in this area has always been to improve the lives of HIV positive individuals, and in some way help to find a vaccine or a cure for the virus.
HIV Services at Tarzana Treatment Centers include mental health and substance use treatment, with our highly regarded outpatient program. We help clients find housing, transportation, and jobs. Our HIV clinic provides necessary medical care and prescriptions for medications. Services are covered by private insurance and public grants, and are provided at almost all of our locations.
With proper treatment, HIV is no longer the death sentence it was when we began providing services. April 23rd, 2014, marked 30 years since the cause of HIV was discovered. In that time we’ve witnessed the loss of some very good people, and we’ve also seen a lot of miracles. We will continue providing HIV Services until they are no longer needed. Hopefully, that day will come sooner rather than later.
