At Tarzana Treatment Centers, education and training are key to community healthcare engagement. Education is essential in supporting health, recovery, and prevention.

Through a range of community education and training programs, TTC is committed to helping individuals, families, and professionals understand and address the challenges of substance use, HIV/AIDS, and overall wellness challenges.

Community Education and Training Services

Alcohol and Drug Education:

TTC’s Alcohol and Drug Education programs are designed to inform and empower adolescents, adults, and families affected by substance use.

In addition, TTC provides free educational presentations throughout Los Angeles County, the San Fernando Valley, and Antelope Valley with a focus on:

• Understanding the addictive process
• Utilizing new coping strategies
• Improving emotional and behavioral functioning
• Facilitating and maintaining sobriety

TTC staff members conduct presentations in public schools, civic meetings, healthcare facilities, universities, and professional conferences. These presentations aim to foster prevention, increase awareness of health challenges, and promote healthy choices.

HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention:

Tarzana Treatment Centers is a leader in HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention services. We offer free, integrated workshops and training for clients, staff, and the community. Many of these service offerings focus on prevention, testing, and access to care.

Harm Reduction Initiatives:

• COPHRI (California Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction Initiative) Harm reduction outreach services: Meeting clients where they are, providing resources and education without judgment

COPHRI is a client-focused health education and patient navigation program offering MAT services, Viral Hepatitis testing and services; HIV testing, care or prevention services; PrEP/PEP services for people who use drugs (PWUD):

• Overdose prevention training
• Connection to substance use disorder treatment and co-occurring mental health services
• Linkage to Viral Hepatitis and HIV testing, PrEP/PEP services, particularly for people who use drugs (PWUD) and at high risk, and MAT services

Holistic Health and Risk Reduction Programs

1) Health Education Risk Reduction (HERR)

Offered in the San Fernando Valley, Long Beach, Palmdale, and Lancaster, this program helps  clients reduce high-risk behaviors. It is also known as the Holistic Health Recovery Program in the San Fernando Valley & Long Beach and Self Help in Eliminating Life Threatening Diseases in Palmdale/Lancaster. The program includes:

• Safe sex, HIV/Hep-C/STD education
• Individual and group sessions for people at risk or living with HIV/AIDS and/or people who inject drugs (PWID)
• Reduce the risk of additional complications for people actively injecting drugs

2) WHIP (Whole Health Integration Program)

A wellness-focused program guiding participants toward better health outcomes through:

• Personalized whole health goal-setting
• Group and one-on-one support sessions
• Peer encouragement and navigation to healthcare services

3) PrEP and PEP Linkage Services

TTC’s PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) Program helps individuals at risk for HIV connect to prevention services:

• Access to PrEP and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)

Support Services for HIV/AIDS-Positive Clients

TTC offers a variety of support services to help clients living with HIV/AIDS maintain stability and access essential care. These services include:

Benefits Assistance:

• Enrollment support for programs including ADAP, SSI/SSDI, OA-HIPP, Medi-Cal, Medicare Part D, Covered California, and PrEP-AP
